RegWork - Clean up your Windows Registry and the hard drive
Even if your computer has the most powerful hardware on the market, it will slow down in time and system errors will be more frequent. The only way to prevent this is to perform routine maintenance tasks, like cleaning up the hard drive and the Windows Registry. If you fail to do this, you will find yourself reinstalling your operating system before you know it. If you can not decide what utility to use, RegWork is definitely worth trying. It will scan certain registry sections and fix any errors it finds.
The setup file will also install additional toolbars for your default browser, which you can easily decline or accept by clicking two check boxes. When you reach the wizard's last step, you will have to wait only a few seconds and the software will be operational and ready to use.
The scanning feature and the results list can be found under separate tabs, on the software's interface. You can set the application to scan certain locations in the registry, such as COM/ActiveX entries, file associations, shortcuts, startup items and others. When the scan is complete, you can jump directly to the results list by clicking a Next button. You can target single issues or all of them and click a button to start fixing them.
RegWork will also erase the browsing history and various temporary files left behind by Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Windows itself. These items can be targeted under the Tools tab, where you will also find a startup manager and a formats helper. If you want to learn more about a specific file format, you can type it in the Formats Help section, click a Search button and the software will display a description for that format.
The Settings tab contains options for adding items to an ignore list, scheduling automatic scans and restoring registry backups. The Windows Registry will be backed up automatically, before you start fixing its problems. In this way, you will have an insurance policy, in case you target something which should not be deleted.
Pros:
The interface is well designed. You can find the tools you need immediately, without stumbling through vast menus with complex options. The application performs thorough scans and it lets you decide who to handle the results.
Cons:
You will encounter many restrictions in the program's trial version.
If you scan your computer regularly, using RegWork, you will be able to keep your system clean and healthy and avoid errors or crashes.
